Proposed Bill in Connecticut Seeks to Increase the Minimum CSRA to $50,000

The Human Services Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly recently filed Senate Bill No. 195, which proposes increasing the minimum Community Spouse Resource Allowance (CSRA) to $50,000 by July 1, 2023. Currently, the minimum CSRA in Connecticut is $27,480, which is in line with the federal standards. If enacted, the increase would allow community spouses with lower shelter expenses to retain almost double the number of assets. This bill is currently in the Senate.

The Connecticut Human Services Committee also recently filed House Bill No. 5226, which would limit the recovery of public assistance payments by the state.
